Despite the existence of wide knowledge base, regarding role of environmental factors in occurence of vector-borne disease, its application in policy is insignificant. Hence, the developing nations witness high rates of morbidity and mortality, bouts of epidemics and resurgence of old/forgotten diseases. The book demonstrates convincingly that there is a need to systematic efforts to address the deadly vector-bornce diseases and actions followed by. The authors have assembled the evidence of causal factors (including biological, environmental and policy) and established their complex interactions. The book covers wide range of critical issues pertaining to all majors vectore-borne disease found in India.


Atanu Sarkar is a Medical graduate from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, West Bengal, and Masters and Ph.D. in community health and Social epidemiology respectively from Centre for Social Medicine and Community health, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Srikanta K. Panigrahi has obtained his formal degree in Civil Engineering and then received subsequent higher studies in Environmental Planning and Management from the renowned Universities of India and abroad.

Mona Ananad is a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Arizona, USA and also has an MSPH (Master of Science in Public Health) in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University School of Public Health, USA.
